With a lap dancing club next door, Main Point Books' latest slogan is ‘For only £2.50 a book will sit in your lap all night long’. The stock accumulated by Richard Browne and Jennie Renton reflects their individual taste, divergent and convergent. As a result the bookshop is firmly democratic, giving equal shelf respect to Joseph Heller and Baroness Orczy, Stella Gibbons and Marcus Aurelius, mountaineering and kitsch 1950s dustwrappers. It is also the home of textualities.net literary magazine.
