An Exhibition by Gary Mackean at Main Point Books

If you're wondering what next to see at the Edinburgh Festival then drop by at Main Point Books in West Port for a fantastic art exhibition by Gary MacKean called Hielan Coos. The exhibition will run from 15-31st August and offers a preview of painted animal portraits from Gary MacKean’s upcoming books Scottish Beasties and Leviathans: A Guide to Sea Monsters. The exhibition will also preview images from his graphic novel Angus, the Haggis Slayer.

The prints on view are from originals painted in a combination of water colour and acrylic paint. They pursue mythological themes rooted in Scottish history, translated into the formats of picture book (Scottish Beasties and Leviathans: A Guide to Sea Monsters) and graphic novel (his series about Angus, the Haggis Slayer.) These books will appear in the autumn. Pre-orders are welcome.
