West Port Book Festival 2011
The West Port Book Festival 2011 will run from 13-16th October. We visualise a cheery Autumnal book festival with crinkling yellow leaves blowing along the West Port pavements and red-cheeked guests in woolly jumpers enjoying our readings, workshops, cake and occasional moments of fancy dress.
There have been quite a few ch-ch-changes in the the WP environs since our 2010 book festival. The Owl & Lion Gallery has closed, only for the Owl & Lion Bindery to rise like a phoenix from the ashes – in West Port, where it should be! Close to Peter Bell Books, Andrew Pringle Booksellers and Armchair Books, the Owl & Lion Bindery is a great addition to Edinburgh’s book quarter.
On a sadder note, we lament the demise of The Lot and the Roxy, two fab venues that participated in the WPBF last year. We hope they will be somehow resurrected to benefit the good citizens of Edinburgh.
We’ll also be making a few tweaks to our format, but you’ll have to wait with baited breathe to find out more. We’ll be in touch. That’s all we’re saying for now.
