StAnza Poetry Festival 2010: 17th - 21st March
From Edinburgh's Soho to Scotland's Poetry Capital! StAnza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival, now in its thirteenth year, began its cracking programme of events on Wednesday and continues until Sunday in St Andrews. If we had an office, it would be missing some people this weekend.
Keep an eye on twitter for StAnza-themed tweets from Anon Poetry (@anonpoetry), the Scottish Poetry Library (@byleaveswelive) and @wpbookfestival.
Topping the bill are some world-class talents: Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney, Don Paterson, Ben Okri, Vicki Feaver, Jen Hadfield, Matthew Sweeney, Moniza Alvi, Dennis O’Driscoll, Grevel Lindop, Kei Miller, and Linton Kwesi Johnson. And there will be poetry from beyond these shores: USA, Canada, A ustria, Germany, Cuba and Spain. The full line-up is at http://www.stanzapoetry.org/2010/participants.php
This year's festival has two themes: Myth and Legend and The Director's Cut, the second a very special tribute to Festival Director Brian Johnstone, who steps down in May 2010 after ten years in post, which have been the inspiration for many intriguing events.
StAnza has something to offer whether it's your first foray into poetry events or you're a seasoned veteran. Interested? Find out more or book tickets at http://www.stanzapoetry.org./
